Afterall, they cheated by taping teams and by sabotaging the transmissions to the opposing QB's headsets.

However, it would be nice if somebody beat the Patriots. Maybe the Bills can become America's Team this weekend by pulling it off. Maybe the Eagles can redeem their season next week. Maybe the Ravens will show up in 2 weeks on Monday Night and actually play up to their potential for once. Maybe The Steelers, Jets, Dolphins, or Giants can pull it off. If all these teams fail, 3 other teams will have a shot at the Cheaters from Foxboro.

If the day comes when everybody has failed, then should the Patriots be stopped with an asterisk on the Super Bowl trophy?

Interesting how the Patriots haters mangle the facts.

They had a video camera confiscated after FIVE plays, with no chance to view the tape from that camera. The NFL clearly stated that the Patriots gained no advantage from having the extra camera. Before the NFL came down hard on Bilichick, it wasn't uncommon for ANY team to bring an extra camera to see what they could get away with. The Patriots busted Mangini doing it last year. No need for any asterisk.

The headset interference problems in Indy were the PATRIOTS having problems, not the Colts. Brady couldn't hear the signals due to interference. There's no indication that the interference was caused by intentional sabotage by the Colts or anyone trying to assist the Colts (whether or not they were affiliated with the Colts organization) it was simply interference on the frequencies that had been assigned to the Patriots for that game.

The real reason the Patriots are winning so much is the quarterbacks. Take Brady, Manning, Romo, and maybe Favre out of the NFL and the rest of the QBs combined aren't anything to cheer about. Palmer has potential, but he's not playing in the same league yet. And the thing that puts Brady at the top of the heap is his ability to complete passes and TDs to so many different receivers. Manning without Harrison is seriously crippled. Brady without Moss wouldn't be doing quite as well, but he'd still have Stallworth, Welker, Watson, and maybe a dozen other guys (including some linebackers, corners, and safeties) that he could throw to and still win.

Pittsburgh might be able to beat the Patriots, but I don't think the others have a chance. Then again, the Dolphins were horrible in 1985 and they were the only team to spoil the Bears' unbeaten season hopes, so maybe they have a surprise left in them.

It'll be fun to watch in any case.

The filming was caught and stopped within the first minute of play of the Jets game. If you feel like putting an asterisk go ahead and make a little chart for your bedroom and put all the scores of their games on it and place an asterisk where you'd like. The whole filming thing has given the Patriots a huge motivation to protect their coach, it seems like the Pats oppposition is suffering more from the scandal than the Pats.

Wow does the Questioner know what the meaning of cheating???
They used a spy cam. They spy cam dude was stopped before he even got into the locker room. So they couldn't have seen the footage. Now if the NFL caught them viewing the footage. Then they shouldn't have even been allowed to play this season.
That's like saying of a dude is drunk and someone stops him before he gets behind the wheel the dude should be arrested for drunk driving.
Now add that to the fact the NFL is watching every move the Pat's make and I mean every move. It's impossible for them to cheat.
As for the headphones let's just say it's the Headphone on both sides not just the opponents side. Yes it should be investigated then CBS can take the credit.
However the headphone interference hasn't made any ref place bad judgment calls.
IF an Asterisk goes on the Pat's when they do make it. Then the dolphin need that asterisk too because remember 72 was steroid time.

Cutting Edge the reason the fine was so steep was because the NFL Pass around notices to ALL the coaches this season saying the spy cams would not be tolerated. Bill broke that rule flat out.
Shula himself broke a rule and signed with the Dolphins and lost first draft picks in 69 if that happened today there would have also be monetary attachments to it. The coaches and players of today make much more money even with salary caps!!!

Absolutely not, to go undefeated and in these times would be an incredible record. Cheating?, explain how we are seeing some of the best football ever played every single week? Not only winning, but winning with ease. This is a ball club that the last five years has been on all cylinders and this year it's working to perfection almost. They are making it look easy week in and week out. Only the Colts have given them a little trouble. They have an incredible offense, not just the guys we read about everyday, the lineman, there running backs that they don't even utilize because they can score at will throwing the ball, there defense is in all the top categories. This is just an overall well executed team, and should they go 16-0 well deserved the asterisk should be Dolphins 0-16 this year, sorry Shula

What are you gonna give them an asterisk for "alleged attempted cheating"

Thats BS. If you do that then Don Shula should get a asterisk to as he once got in trouble for cheating.

And if the Colts won then why don't they get an astrisk for "alleged attempted noise pumping"

Come on it's ridiculous if you think the Patriots needed to cheat to gain a huge advantage over the Jets then you must have last watched football in 10 years ago.

If you can legitamitly prove that the Patriots actually ever analyzed or used that footage then put an astrisk. But the fact is they got caught with a tape nobody on this site ever viewed before it even got to Bellickick

Cheating really doesn't have anything to do with having the best talent in the NFL. They're not only solid at most positions, they're deep, too. Their backup running back could start on 20 NFL teams. I'm not a Patriots fan and I would love to see them lose (that's why I'm enjoying fat former Pats offensive coordinator Charlie Weis getting dirt kicked in his face this season as head coach of Notre Dame), but it's likely not to happen. The next time NFL commish Roger Goodell or any of his loser front-office guys come on TV and talk about how great the parity is in the NFL, I'm gonna simply turn the channel.

It was actually the Patriots headsets who were messed up. Also They attempted to cheat and got caught so they never were able to use the info. All that really does is make them look bad. So I dont think there is any need to put an astersik by the record. Like them or not what they are doing is pretty amazing.

I am a Colts fan, and I am going to say this.

If the Patriots get an asterisk next to their name in the record books, then you should get MUSHROOM STAMPED at halftime at the Super Bowl.

Who cares, we all saw that the only team who can compete with the Pats are the Colts.

Spoiled Sport!! Every team in the NFL has cheated and if the Patriots win you want an asterisk? You are anti Pats, no doubt about it !! Well. too G-----N Bad. And if you think your team hasn't stolen signals then you are naive as a Jaybird. Some transfers from the Pats( player, Asst Coach, Trainer) comes to your team. Don't you think he doesn't carry secrets? You are a real SPORTS FAN !!f
