No. The real "Cold War" really started probably in 1949 when the Soviet Union developed the bomb.

some say the Cold War actually with the bolshevik revolution in 1917. The Cold War was America's capitalism vs. Russia's Communism. That began when the Bolsheviks took power. At the end of WWII, Russia did go turn its back on some of the agreements made with the Allies, thus creating distrust amongst them towards Russia. This was the beginning. The American's knew the Russians had the technology to build the bomb before the Russians detonated their first one, as some of the scientists on the Manhattan Project sold secrets to the Russians. So the arguement that the Cold War started when Russia detonated their first bomb is a little contentious. I would definitely say the Americans were engaged in the Cold War in 1947.

beginning of national security state, national security act of 1947, began as a means to keep the money flow (i.e.Jobs) in the weapons industry and major defense business, returning soldiers needed jobs, so they hyped to Soviet threat into much larger proportions in order to get higher taxes and to keep production high. fending off the possible repeat of the recession that began as soldiers returned from 1st world war, then led to the great depression.

Well, the Cold War was already in motion, and we were giving aid to the French in Indochina, as well as aid to the Greeks in suppressing a Communist insurrection.

But as for a real shooting war with American troops involved, no, we were not directly involved in a shooting war with American troops in combat.

Nope. WWII had just ended and Korea was just heating up ,hadnt started yet.
