BC or B.C. may stand for:
Before Christ or B.C., designation applied to years prior to the current (AD) era
ad
Anno Domini. The Christian era in the Gregorian calendar, starting from the year ad 1 as the calculated and back-projected year in which Christ was believed to have been born. Widely used in western societies. The use of lower-case initials is often taken to indicate that the date has been calculated from a radiocarbon determination by subtracting 1950 from the radiocarbon age. The use of upper-case letters denotes a historical date or a calibrated radiocarbon age in calendar years.

BC is Before Christ - Everything before his birth. I am not sure what AD stands for, but it is after the birth of Christ. Edit** I would say the Anno Domini people are correct. After Death is not right, many just use that term. Jesus was 33 when he died so that would mean that there is a 33 year gap in the calender.

BC stands for "Before Christ" and refer to the years before the year 0 or 1.
AD is Latin for Anno Domini and means "year of our Lord". It refers to the years after 1 to the current time.

BC--before Christ
AD--anno domini (Latin for "In the year of [our] Lord.")
Contrary to popular belief, AD does NOT stand for "after death"

It means before christ and anno domini.
I think bc also means something in latin.
CE and BCE are more commonly used now. (Common Era and Before Common Era.)
