Okay, we seem to be getting a mix of answers here.

jlcolles is right about an apartment being built in the Castle at WDW, but it was never finished, and that space had several uses over the years first being used as the phone center (Of course, now -- years later -- it has been turned into the ultimate Disney guest room). There was never any intent on an apartment in the Disneyland Castle.

Claret is right about the apartment above the Fire House. When Walt was in the Park, that is where he and his family stayed.

Michael is close. Walt was building an apartment in New Orleans Square, behind the now Disney Gallery, for his brother Roy's family, but when Walt dies, it was abandoned.

And both jlcolles & Claret are right about Walt not being frozen. He is actually interned at Forest Lawn Cemetery (Glendale, CA). He died of lung cancer on December 15, 1966, at the age 65.

No Walter Elias Disney is NOT frozen or in Cryostasis or any other such garbage.

Walt died of natural causes.

He did NOT live on top of the firehouse.

The Disney family had a home to live in and when the Castle was being built, a room was created in the Tower as a special place for the Disney family to use as they saw fit.

It's truly amazing some of the stories that circulate about Walt, and Disney World/Land.

I don't think he's really frozen Urban legend. But I do know that when he was building/planning Walt Disney World, There was a space in Cinderella's Castle that he and is family were going to use as living quarters. I believe that it is the same area that is now being transformed in a hotel room for the year of a million dreams celebration and people can when an over night stay in Magic Kingdom. Yes, I'm full of useless information!!

I do not believe Walt Disney is frozen. He died from lung cancer in 1966. He does, indeed, have an apartment that he used that is above the Fire House in Disneyland. When Walt was in the park, he had the light on in the window, so everyone knew Walt was in the park. That light is on all the time now (symbolic that his spirit is still in the park). From what I have heard, he did not live in the apartment, simply used it to stay sometimes and to entertain important guests. He loved being in the park.

Here is a link to wikipedia's info on him. Enjoy!

He is not frozen! I'm not sure how he died...but yes, there is an apartment above the fire station on Main Street in Disneyland where he would stay once in a while. The lamp in the window is always on in there, to symbolize Walt always being there i.e. in spirit. Cool, huh?

He is not frozen. He actually died of Lung Cancer in December, 1966. He was cremated and is buried in Forrest lawns in Glendale, California.
There is a small apartment above the fire station in which he used as a office, or so I was told. They do keep a lamp on in that apartment 24-7.

There is a lot of neat history within that park!
