Take common water soak the area..then get A wet towel, put over the raised dent..and get a clothing ironn..and iron it down..The wood when rehydrated with water in the grain will iron down back to shape...Do not use cooking oil to season it.. It can go rancid.. Get A small bottle of mineral oil from any store to "reseason"

Put a scrap piece of wood on the protrusion and hammer it down just above the top then sand it flush. Season with vegetable oil. There is a special oil for butcher blocks but you don't need to buy a whole can just for a dent.

smooth faced hammer, tap it down easy, it should push backout if the grain goes up and down.
