Why do that. Mixing KYB performance struts with stiffer valving at the bottom of the strut has much more control than sloppy Monroe front struts which have a relief slot on the inside so that down the straight smooth road makes you feel like your driving a large pillow.

Go to autopartswarehouse.com and buy Your four KYB struts and new top shelf Moog strut plates. All four corners of your car should have the identical brand struts with the same valving.
Someones blowing smoke. If the spring heights are identical you will not damage your present springs. Actually you'll be helping them as the springs will not oscillate (bounce up and down) as far or as much.---That's a fact! Prices are less than Carquest (they sell KYB) plus you pay no shipping for orders over $50.00 or sales tax on anything. You can't beat that with a stick.

Incidentally, you'll love the firm overall feel of KYB struts. The difference is night and day compared to any Monroe product.

Ideally you want to buy all four at the same time and all of the same brand so they have matching performance.

The first answer was wrong by the way. Monroe have a reputation for being very stiff. KYB is the worlds primary supplier of original equipment struts and guarantee their aftermarket replacements will ride just like the struts originally fitted to the car. They can do that because they probably built the struts that originally went in the car. I've had to take Monroe's off customers cars because they didn't like them, not the case with KYB. I only use KYB now.

Shop around and get the right stuff. You obviously have internet access, use it.

Sears? Gawd no, do no longer bypass there. Ask the guy doing the inspection why the struts ought to get replaced. they are able to't in basic terms inform you they ought to get replaced and not clarify why. oftentimes, the sole reason of changing struts is that in the event that they're wiped out inflicting severe shuttle of the front suspension, noise which includes clunking, or in the event that they're leaking externally. specific, struts have fluid in them, yet you may't in basic terms substitute the fluid. the final reason of changing a strut is that if it have been broken in some way which includes being bent and inflicting the alignment to be off. frequently, struts are recommended to get replaced in pairs, the two the two fronts or the two rears. Exception to this rule is that if there's a undertaking with the two the front and the rears. maximum aftermarket locations which includes Midas, Goodyear, etc., will very almost consistently sell you all 4 struts and mounts to cover their backside to be sure the criticism is fixed. specific, even although you're no longer driving a Benz or BMW, the fee for this form of restore is steep. i these days did a pal's Grand Prix and the front end keep quoted her over $900. you have to be certain precisely why they're telling you the struts ought to get replaced. it might additionally be a stable thought to get a 2nd inspection, yet do no longer point out something related to the 1st one, see in the event that they inform you the struts are undesirable additionally.

Monroe shocks are crap that would only last about 30K. KYB shocks are slightly better.

You have no problem with mixing different brand of shocks as long as they are same type and done in pairs. Same is true for shock mounts. For most driving conditions, you are not going to feel huge difference. Also you should not mix OE springs with sports shocks. Sports shocks are more stiffer and will trash the springs when used with standard OE springs.
