I think that would apply if the comment was good or bad. I think it has happened to me in both cases. If someone says something in praise, you will carry that image for a long time, and likewise if they say something hurtful or vile, you will still remember it for a long time, no matter how hard you try to forget it.

I get instant images when people talk, which is why I now speak up in protest during lunch in the Teacher's Lounge.
"People who get instant images are trying to eat here!!!!" They know me by now, and laugh at my lame attempts.
