I love the name Elijah but there is something about the spelling that doesn't look right to me, along with the fact that I'd like my son to have the initials A.J. in honor of my late great grandfather, plus the fact that my BF's other two children from a previous relationship that he has custody of both have names that begin with "A" and I think its cute. (There aren't any other "A" names that I really like, anyway for a boy.) I was thinking about "Alijah" or "Aelijah", I even wrote them down on paper and they look fine to me but I'm curious as to what others might think. For a middle name, I want John, which is my father's name.

On the other hand, I like Adrynn Lily (sort of like Adrienne) or Audrynn Lilly for a girl, which also carry on the "A" series. Opinions?

So, with all that said, what do you think? Sorry if its too much, I just wanted to state my reasons for the weird spellings and such. I wasn't just popping these things right off the top of my head.

I'm confused as to how Elijah (properly said ee-LIE-zha) could possibly be pronounced the same if misspelled with an A, to be quite honest.

And while Adrienne is a fine name, Adrynn looks and sounds like some sort of headache medication. A play on "aspirin" or something. Not to mention the -ynn ending generally coming across as a lower-class, created misspelling nearly anywhere it's used. Just not names I'd recommend by any means.

My daughters name is Eliza, the feminine version of Elijah so I love it! You could spell it Alijah and that would be fine.

I don't like the spellings for the girls names though, they just look funny and hard to 'see and say' if you get my drift.

Adrienne Lily looks so much nicer and easier to say when you first see it.

Some other 'a' suggestions for you....

BOYS
Austin
Alden
Andrew
Adrien
Andre`
Alex
Alexander
John should go with all of these too.

GIRLS
Amara
Aimee
Anira
Alyssa / Alissa
Alannah / Alana
Ava
Alexa / Alexia
Alexandra
Adrielle
Aubrianna
Audrey
Aubree
Aurielle
Arielle

Hope that gives you some alternatives. Maybe use Joanna as a middle name for a girl or just Jo. Or use a 'j' name so that you have some sort of connection to John. Like Jade, Jayda, Jasmine etc...

Best of luck

I don't think there's anything wrong with spelling it Alijah. I know a family who also has an "A" theme, and their son's name is Aric (Eric).

I think Alijah John sounds nice.

As far as the girl's name. Adrynn Lilly is my favorite. Another name you might like is Arianna (Ari-ahna). Although, you might like Aubrynn (Aw-brin) too because it's similar to Audrynn.

Good luck! :) I think you're off to a great start, and either way your child will have a great name.
