It seems that Norv Turner is just the fall guy. There was a known power struggle between Smith and Schottenheimer, now with Marty out of the way, Smith can build the team the way he wants it. And it seems like he is pointing in the direction of rebuilding the team, instead of trying to win Super Bowls right now. Many members of the team, are visibly unhappy, the players have no respect for the coach, and their play has not been very impressive all season, (except against Denver) is this something that A.J. Smith is orchestrating so he can trade away players, to build a new team. Or am I just coming up with a whacked out conspiracy theory?

It does sound ridiculous (remember Major League, lose every game so they could move to Los Angeles?) but AJ Smith has proved he isn't very bright anyway. I can't believe he hasn't been fired also.

If that's his plan, he's gonna have a hard time cuz the talent is already there. What other kind of team does Smith want (other than the Pats) that's gonna be better than 14-2? He has an MVP caliber runningback, talent on the O-line (reggie mcneal especially), talent on the defense, antonio gates is the perfect x-factor. I dont kno where he expected to go without Schotty and who he's gonna get next year if Norv gets fired.

Well, Eli Manning had so little respect for AJ Smith that he demanded that the Chargers not draft him (and ended up getting traded to the Giants for Phillip Rivers, Shawne Merriman, and Nate Kaeding, which is a steal for San Diego even if you don't count Merriman and Kaeding).

AJ Smith is just an incompetent GM who actually thought that he was making a good decision. He will fire Norv Turner when the season ends.

Norv showed his absolute incompetence last week when he tried to convince his team that their miracle victory over the Colts was a turning point rather than a gift from the fat guy at the North Pole.

I think Rivers is the problem here. He is a young quarterback, not good enough yet to lead a championship level football team. Maybe Turner was brought in to be the fall guy instead of the blame being put on the guy who traded Eli Manning. They should have never done that. They should have just said screw you Eli, he would have eventually signed. They chickened out like a bunch of sissys.

AJ Smith is a moron and if Spanos had any sense he would fire him immediately. The Chargers always seem to be either climbing or falling, with Marty they were climbing and now it is a free fall.

Marty is fine and Drew Bress is doing quite well for a city that loves him.

The Chargers are getting just what they asked for, a losing season with an idiot coach.

I guess so. AJ Smith wanted a coach that would treat him like the man and do things his way. That's pretty unprofessional and rather selfish in my opinion.

It's logical, since A.J. Smith's a *****.
