Talk about coming from nowhere... Who would have guessed?

apparently, he's only a "co-GM"

Yeah, it's pretty creepy to know that Hull is a co-GM. I think the Stars are going to be last year's Flyers. They're going to have an incredibly crappy year, but going to light it up next year.

It's not nearly as surprising as the whole Garth Snow situation with the Islanders last year. That was from left field.

They are going through a restructuring of their management. I will not be shocked if it changes from interim to full-time.

LITY: I agree completely. The Snow situation was completely mind boggling. If I am not mistaken, he was either still on the roster or his contract had just expired when he was offered the job. I also think it's likely that Hull will move into the role full time once they settle the front office down in Dallas.

Sounds interesting; I am glad that Hull will still be involved in the NHL and I hope he can be the difference in turning around a less dominant Dallas team.

I saw this coming in the summer...................it was the relieving of Jim Lites' duties that caught me off guard.

Lubers, no disrespect to Garth Snow, but if he and Brett Hull were the only people I was allowed to interview for a GM position.....I'd be leaning towards Brett

Lubers, the Snow move caught me completely by surprise. I was under the impression they were in contract talks to bring him back as DiPietro's backup/mentor for another season.

To this day, I have yet to hear a plausible explanation as to what Smith did to get fired after ...what was it...2 months? It was Smith that hired Nolan I believe.

It won't be a quiet tenure...I don't think it will be along term thing given his volatile, outspoken nature. Doesn't seem to have the patience for the job and will most likely get fleeced by the more experienced guys...
