Is this normal? We know effacement can be normal but, with the head being right there and already 50% at almost 31 weeks should this or shouldn't this be a concern? She is currently on Terbudeline and P17 injections so that she doesnt go into labor as her cervix is shortened to about 2.1. Any advice would be great! Thank you and God Bless!!!

I have been dilated to 5cm and 50% effaced and am 2 long since I was at 31 weeks. I was put on bed rest and also on meds to stop the contractions which were 3 min apart. I have now stopped having contractions and I only have to take my meds to stop contractions when they start coming regular. I would have her go on bed rest full time and not to do anything. I do not clean, cook, or do anything. My husband put me a bed in the living room so I could still feel like I am part of the family. I have now made it 2 weeks and I went to the Dr yesterday and my cervix has not changed at all. My Dr's want me to try and make it to at least 34 weeks and the way I am going now, I think I can make it. Good luck and try and have her just rest all the time.

put her on bed rest and wait on her hand and foot. Its not good for baby to come now and hopefull the drugs will take care of that, but she needs to get off her feet and plant her butt on the sofa or bed and stay there. Rent her some DVD's, go to the library and get her some books, magazines, whatever, but she needs to rest now.
Overexersion could cause pre-term labour which won't be fun for you, her or baby.
Don't be too alarmed, just take pre-cautions and things should be okay. Make sure she doesn't over-do it with housework, shopping or anything strenuous in general.

Best of luck and god bless

Sometimes women are dialated some at 25 weeks and end up going overdue. Just tell her to relax, keep her feet up, enjoy her last few weeks being preggo, and just keep doing what the doctors tell her. And dont worry if she does go into labor early, with todays medical technology babies can survive at early 20 some weeks. I doubt the baby would have problems if born at this time, they would just need to work with the lungs. Congrats

the doctors could be wrong about he baby's due date. they could be off by 2 Weeks one way or the other! tell her to take it easy and be safe. a baby born before 36 weeks can have so many problems.
