A number of reasons:
A: The Arab-Israeli conflict. In times of war, the other side tends to be demonised and hated. Ending that conflict will help moderate forces within Islam and improve interfaith/international understanding. Unfortunately, Crusader-type rhetoric from the Religious Right in the US and their political representatives does not help matters.
B: Many Muslims interpreted the defeat of Muslim armies at the hands of Israel as a sign that the largely "secularist" regimes had failed them and that they needed a new ideology that would bring them more success. Sadat's peacemaking with Israel especially strengthened this view. Many took the view that Islamic theocracy was the answer.

The Islamo-facists are making a concerted effort in the Mosques and the towns throughout the Middle East teaching hatred for the west, for Israel, and America. And they've been doing this for 50 years. The results are seen throughout Europe, the Middle East, Iran, Pakistan, and Londonistan too.
The ideology of hatred is prevailing as long as there are uneducated victims that will listen to the Islamic extremist Ayatolahs and Imams. It inherent to a religion that is predicated to puting its detractors to the sword.

Pseudos are to blame for each little thing undesirable in India which incorporates becoming Hindu intolerance, Naxalites, separatist strikes in many areas of the so-pronounced as country pronounced as India. those pseudos have continually pursued the coverage of appeasement and the effect is the all of us is now paying the cost. Appeasement of Muslims, Naxals, chinese language (earlier than 1962), Bhindrawala etc. My only wish, might Hindus exchange into as radicalized as Muslims of any country.
