Are they a bad team? How can they improve? Does Eli need to go?

They play in New Jersey but are still called the New York Giants! They should be called the New Jersey Giants and New York needs a real football team but the NFL feels otherwise!

The Giants are a mixed bag at best this year. They are not a bad team, however they are not exactly a really good team either. Their defense is solid in their interior and front, yet vulnerable in the secondary. Their offense is what often holds them back and keeps teams in the game. Some questionable play calling and coaching strategy is involved for sure. As far as Eli, who knows. He's had alot of time to develope and just doesn't seem to be getting any better in the Giants current system. Not sure if he needs to go, but the organization at some point is going to have to evaluate a course of action to get them over the hump. So here are the things that need to happen to improve their team (no particular order):

1. Eli commits himself to the game and improves his throwing style.

2. Get another receiver to supplement Plaxico Burress.

3. Establish the running game more.

4. Fire Coughlin or change playcalling.

5. Stop making dumb penalties, that kills any team's momentum in games.

They are not a BAD team, they're still an undisciplined team though. With 6 minutes to go versus the Cowboys (down by 11 points) the team's version of a "hurry-up offense" is waltzing down the field. Also, the silly penalties, lack of execution and suspect blocking at times. Eli isn't going to scramble like Romo but he's not Drew Bledsoe either.

It takes a while for QB's to learn good pocket precense (Peyton didn't have it in the first 2 or 3 years) but Eli hasn't caught onto that yet. He also makes questionable throws at times but we kno he can win games.

The defense was a little over aggressive this past week and that's not a big deal but when you miss tackles, the flood gates open.

Eli doesn't need to go anywhere. The offense is banged up (as usual), Plaxico isn't practicing (practice? we're talking about practice), and for god sakes will Kevin Gilbride stop running draw plays with a crummy O-line and a runningback whose more suited for the I-Form?

The pieces are there, but you can't get thru the playoffs with odd playcalling, suspect blocking and stupid penalties.

They're still one of those middle level NFC teams. Eli is inconsistent as is their offense. If Eli could get a good short passing game going to compliment the run, he'd have less interceptions and they'd give their defense less time on the field.
It's funny, but every time I hear New York Giants now, I think of the Lemurs in Madagascar when they greeted the zoo animals and called them New York Giants.

Eli is doing fine, but Straham should keep his mouth shut,to much trash talk before a game only gets you in trouble, the Giants are the second best team in the NFC behind the Dallas Cowboys

good team that needs improvement. they give up way too many points and aren't consistent through the whole game. I think that is the best team for Eli. I can't see any other team really putting up with his mistake. I just don't see him playing on other. maybe down the road with some more experience but he should stay in NY.

The New York Giants are my #1 enemy on the field. I am glad they are there. The better the Giants are, the better the Cowboys have to be to beat them. Thank God there are other Teams in the league!

Eli is not a good QB, NY made a huge mistake taking him from SD. Did you see the game against the Cowboys, it's a big divisional game, 1st place on the line & he completely crumbles under pressure. What was it 3 delay of game penalties, I'm sorry but there's no reason for that in the NFL.

giants are a good team they just have to play better defense, i dont think they will get to the superbowl mainly because they do not have a veteran quaterback, eli manning is young and he needs to stay in NY because he is ELI MANNING. His career just started i don expect him to win a superbowl already but in the next couple of years i can just see the giants becoming a force to be reckoned with

I watch them... cause of Eli.. He is from my part of the country.. I like to watch the Colts also because of his bro.. I watched the last game and they do need to improve if they expect to go forward. No Eli needs to stay right now. I like the Giants and respect the team as a whole. I like Shockey..he's cool..

Woah, they are one of the top teams in the NFC. Though they are not in the caliber of the Dallas Cowboys, they will be a force in the playoffs. And Eli is quietly having a very solid season. Many teams, namely the Dolphins, would kill to have a QB of Eli's caliber
