Since you are an adult, you have the right to go wherever you want to go. If other people of your age prefer to sit home and act as if their life is over, that is their loss.
Anyone has the right to go where they want for fun and entertainment, and don't let people tell you are too old and therefore out of touch. If it wasn't for Rock and Roll the so called "new" music of today wouldn't exist.
Make your own group of friends, regardless of their age, as long as you are all having a good time; it is really not anyone else's business.
I have friends of all ages, from teenagers to people who are in their nineties; and it has taught me to appreciate everyone of all ages for their contributions to my life in particular and the world in general.
Go out to the dance clubs, behave like a gentleman and you should have a wonderful time. Speak about your background in the music industry in a non-bragging manner and you will soon have lots of new friends who will be interested in spending time with you, as a person, not you as a number in the age game.
Have a great day.

Hey !! I'm 84 and still like to go dancing with my wife. We are into slow swing, the Lindy, fast swing, rhumba, cha-cha and Sitting down!! With your background and love for music why not hit the clubs? There is much sociability, exercise, enjoyment. In NY state ballroom dancing has become popular enough that several dance weekends were held and are scheduled for the winter months. Great, fairly inexpensive way to spend a weekend.

I think it is great for a 68 yr old to go out dancing.
I love to dance also, being a woman it is harder to get out alone, I am older than you..
So this may help you enjoy more, check out senior centers,
learn how to line dance, go with them on trips, and go to the bars at the hotel they stay in.
Dancing keeps you young, I still wear heels and love to swing
and cha cha. I still go line dancing every week, and when I go out of town visiting for a while find the nearest senior center they are not what you may think.
Have fun and laugh at yourself, keep active. Good luck.

If I still have the energy, spirit, soul, and rhythm (and the knees) at age 68 as I do now at age 24, I will go out to all the dance clubs and show them young 'ns what's hip, and tell anyone who disapproves to piss off.

Give it a shot. What's the worst that can happen? A bunch of 20 somethings make fun of you, not a huge deal, I guess.

It's my ambition to become a dirty old man. If you don't mind the perception, go right ahead.
