yes i do - anything that might help deter them - they need to be ashamed and embarassed, and maybe if they know they'll be featured as the "sex offender of the week", then they'll think twice - i doubt they will, but they deserve the humiliation

Yes they should be published. Why? When a man/woman commit a sexual offense and they get arrested, they should lose some of their rights because of their crimes. A lot of newspapers have police blotters where they give the names and addresses of people committing other crimes. If that is the case, they should do the same for sex offenders because the parents can know where these people live, and stay away from these places. Thats just my opinion though. Thank you

Yes and No
I believe that parents especially have the right to know if a convicted sex offender is living near them
BUT
knowing can give rise to vigilante justice and some people may take the law into their own hands
Personally I don't think sex offenders should ever be let out of prison as there is no way for them to be reformed unless they have their pen!s chopped off and they and the public would be much safer is they were kept in prison

yes, as should list burglars, drunk drivers, underage drinkers, potheads and drug dealers, thieves, wife-beaters, people who cheat on their taxes, people who abuse their children, people who don't pay their bills (they might be inclined to steal), in fact, so that we can "be safe and protect the children" we should publish about all of these things. We need to know what kinda secrets our neighbors have. Who wants to live next door to a drunk driver or a pothead?
In fact, people who get a DUI should have to paint "I drive drunk" on their car so we can watch out for them. People who steal should have to wear a sign that says "I steal things"
Don't forget the adulterers - maybe they could wear a scarlet red "A" on their clothes.
Yep, fair is fair. If it's good for the sex offenders, it's good for all other "dangerous people".
There's a "sex offender" in the SC registry in my county. She's a young mom. A judge gave custody of her baby to the daddy and she took off with the baby. She's on the sex offender registry listed for "kidnapping" -- yep, I feel safer now that her life is ruined.
There's a young man on the registry in my neighborhood. When he was in HS (17 years old) he made out with (not intercourse) his 15 year old GF... "indecent liberties with a child under 16" -- sex offender for life. I'm safer now that he is listed and his life is ruined too. They're married now - how whacked is that?
A student at a college football game I was at became annoyed at a ref's call and "mooned" the ref (and the crowd by extension). "indecent exposure" - sex offender for life. Do you feel safer now that he's on the list too?
The teen with dad's gun who lives across the street isn't on anyone's list. I'm more worried about him....

Why not? I want to know who's living around me so I can protect my kids from them! Where they are, my kids WON'T be.
