80 years and 692 games strong

No two NHL teams have played one another as often as Detroit and Chicago have (not even Toronto and Montreal)

Wings Fan is correct
years 26 (1942-43) through year 50 (1966-67) were the 25 years of the 'original' six (even if some of us are old enough to have been alive when the Brooklyn Americans skated on the planet)

Yes, longest in the league. And contrary to what Sharks baby says, they were not the first six teams. There were a few before, but those six were the only ones that didn't fold. And between I believe 1942 (I could be wrong) and 1967 they were the only teams in the league. LITY up there could tell you the exact dates the O-6 were the only ones in the league, i could look it up as well.

The league started with five teams in 1917, they are the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Wanderers, Toronto Arenas, Quebec Bulldogs and Ottawa Senators.

longest in the history of the NHL, but toronto vs. Montreal is still a better rivalry, they have 684 games together.
