I've tried Norton AntiVirus and Adaware Spyware remover. I use Firefox and Internet explorer as my web browsers and they are the only thing on the computer effected by this. I don't really know how to discribe the problem except that it suddenly stops responding and sends me an "send" "don't send error report" message. If I do run an Adawar or Norton scan it does solve the problem but only for a day or so. HELP!!! I've asked every computer savy person I know and no one seems to have an explaination.

Ad-aware SE personal has to be run approximately every half hour that you are on the Internet (preferably) other wise at least at the time you log off, or at the time you log on, but I run it about every half hour myself (scans in about 4 minutes) quick scan, and you don't even have to configure it to do so, it comes already on smart scan mode, course you can configure it to do a full scan but that's not really necessary,
and it always comes up with something to zap, also, you need to have a firewall, like zonealarm Internet security suite, or other. If you go to (zonelabs.com) you can download a free 15 day trial, it becomes a free firewall if you decide not to buy it after 15 day's, also if you go to (lavasoft.com) you can download (ad-aware SE personal) free. Oh! type (spybot search and destroy) into your search engine bar and it'll take you where you can download it for free too! DO NOT get confused with spyware bot.

??? Isn't that Windows error notification to tell you that some program conflicts has occurred (and could crash your Windows) and it offers to send a message to Microsoft?

Well, if it bugs you, you can disable Error Reporting. Here’s how:

1. Press Windows+Break keys to display the System Properties dialog box or go to Start, right-click on My Computer.

2. Select the Advanced tab and click the Error Reporting button.

3. Select the Disable Error Reporting option. If you don’t want to see any type of error message, clear the But Notify Me When Critical Errors Occur check box.

4. Click OK and OK

Did it start to happen after you installed something?
Try doing a disk cleanup, reset your IE, and update your Windows/applications.

I've been using Spyware doctor from PC Tools. There is a free version that will ID the problem, but you'll have to manually delete it yourself. The full version will take care of it for you. Either version will run silently in the background and protect you from further spyware/ adware/ malicious softwares. Great program!!

If you want a free anti-virus I recommend in order of popularity, but please choose the right one for you (install only one): 1. AVG Free a. A simple interface (easier to use than Avast! and Avira) b. Can detect about 82.82% of viruses Cons: low virus detection 2. Avast! a. Real-time protection b. It has an option to delete a virus once found c. Can detect about 87.46% of viruses. Cons: Too many icons and confusing user interface 3. Avira AntiVir a. It can detect malware better than Avast and AVG b. It's cute umbrella icon c. Can detect about 94.26% of viruses Cons: A very sluggish update For free anti-spyware I would recommend Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware.
