A day to honor all the Veterans in the US. It was first set up after WWI to celebrate the Armistice that occurred on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. The end of WWI

It is for all Veterans not just those who served in Wartime. WE need the services in peace time as well as war time. These folks still give up years of their lives in service to us.

US Army 15 years
OIF 2003
US Army Recruiter 3 years running in Texas

On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month -- WWI Came to an end with ARMISTICE being declared. THAT is the source of what would eventually evolve into Veterans Day in the future ...

It wasn't until 1954 (and Eisenhower's Administration) that Veterans Day became an OFFICIALLY Designated Federal Holiday!

NOWADAYS .. it is a Federal Holiday to remember the past, the present and the future .. the VOLUNTEER SERVICE that our Honorable Servicemembers have given in the defense of our nation -- specifically -- in supporting the Constitution of the United States. For those of us who have served, those serving now, and those on track to becoming servicemembers in the future .. it is the sacrifices of these "Volunteers" which allows ALL Americans to enjoy the freedoms that they enjoy at this time!

Veterans day is the day we show respect and gratitude to the men and women who have served and or died for our country. Celebrating is a form of respect.
