Cool air helps be fall asleep. I open my window unless it's really cold inside my room already.
Also, the sound of rain drops hitting the roof makes me fall asleep faster and have a better night's sleep. I guess the sound is soothing ;P
Relaxing before you sleep helps; if you just had a big study session and is going to hit the pillows, I would listen to calm music before and just sit and let my mind wander.
I'm not a milk drinker, but I think warm water is a good substitute. I hear that taking a nice relaxing bath before you sleep helps you, but I never tried it.

Yep, being tired or recovering from working out is a good one.
About the milk, my mom used to give me warm milk that had pieces of fresh garlic cut up into it.
Sounds disgusting but did not taste bad and it was very effective because of tranquilizing garlic oils.
