Well here's a chance to shock your teacher. No one is running for President! There are a lot of politicians who are trying to get the nomination of their party for that position. Those nominations won't be made until the parties hold their conventions in the middle of next year. Then the candidates will try to convince the people to vote for electors pledged to them in the General Election in November of next year. Then the members of the Electoral College will meet in their respective state capitals in December and cast their votes for President and Vice President.
That's how it is done. Right now all we have is a "beauty pageant".

Front runners for the Dems are Hillary and Obama and front runners for the Conservatives are Romney and Giuliani.
