It's almost winter and I want to be prepared for snowboarding, I've never tried it but it looks too fun to pass out, I don't really exercise my leg muscles much, so my question is...

What muscles does snowboarding use and what exercises can I do to build those muscles?

Oh, I'm 15, so I don't want to do anything that will stunt my growth.

Snow boarding is great exercise. You will find that the all the major muscle groups are used but legs, stomach and back are essential. Like all sports where balance is important you are going to be using muscles that you usually would not. minor shifts of weight are a great way to work muscles that usually do not have much work. As far as what exercises to do... Lots of leg work, running and walking will help, Sit-ups or crunches to strengthen the core. Pilate's is amazing for stomach and core strengthening.
AND... There is nothing here that is going to stunt your growth. If anything the stretching and strengthening that will come with lots of board time will help improve your stature and stamina. You will have a blast. good luck

It's really mostly core and leg muscles. Try grabbing one of those balance boards (like a skateboard but set on a roller that you have to balance on without letting either end drop). Running, biking, hiking and anything thing else that strengthens the leg muscles will help too.

hmmm.. im not shure about snowboarding but im a hardcore free skier so i think i know a bit. I mostly use muscles from abs down. Mostly abs,thighs calfs and ankles. making turns and riding altogther requiers a built core. Abs besides the thighs and calfs and ankles are very important because everytime you turn you use your abs to turn your shoiulders to intiate the turn. the next biggest thing if you want to go big in the park is your head.haha i know it sounds dumb but you got to think your gunna stomp the trick..and guess what 90% of the time when you think that YOU DO! so stay positive becuase when you first start it may be tough but youll love it and make it a lifestyle. Good SIMPLE exercises are sit ups,push ups,wall sits and rolling ankles to make them tough
