Actually you can. Asian is a broad term used to describe EVERYONE in Asia or from an Asian background. Including Indians, Chinese, Filipino, Iraqi, Japanese, Mongolian, etc.

Between Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, and Korean they are generally harder to tell for some, but if you are in a surrounding with many of these people, you will eventually be able to tell the difference. Filipino should be the easiest to distinguish due to just overall facial features and generally a little darker skin tone. For Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans it's a lot in the eyes. You can only tell from observing and mistakes. lol

Sure there's a difference. If you went to Japan and lived there for a long time you'd notice the different when a Chinese person came to town. It's just that you're surrounded by so few Asians that is' probably not that easy to see the difference.

It's extremely difficult because most of us aren't "purebloods" anymore. Like I'm Chinese and German, so a lot of my features are actually German, not Chinese.

There's the general rule of thumb that the eyes are shaped differently and the faces have different shapes, but if you're comparing an Asian to a Caucasion, you'll barely be able to compare the difference. But yes, there certainly are differences.

Yes its very difficult if your not ASIAN.. you can not easily tell if there filipino, korean, chinese or japanese. because their eyes are same. and i think its in their height you can tell maybe.. cuz filipino are the shortest of this 4 category while korean is tallest. Their eyes, lips are almost the same but the nose i think Chinese and filipino have flatter nose and a bit darker skin tone

Well yes if you pay enough attention. I don't know about Filipinos but Vietnamese people (not all but a lot) have dark skin and wide flat noses
I think Chinese people have the most round face..but I could be wrong
Korean and Japanese people look very similar(to me) their face is more angular and their noses kind of looked hooked(?) I don't know how to describe it...Korean women are usually heavier(and therefore more sexy)
Oh and I think that the Mongolians have the most slender eyes

They are all Asian by the way

yes, there are different characteristics for each of the races you mentioned. there is no way to even start to describe the differences, which may be slight, but none the less, are there. so the answer to your question is YES, and i will leave it at that. hope this helped. if you ever get a job in like social services or something like that you could ask for training to be able to tell the differences, not that it really matters though....people are people after all. PS, I THOUGHT I WOULD BE THE FIRST TO ANSWER, BUT YIKES!!!!

Yes it's difficult but I have been successful. It is even easier for Asian people to tell the differences, and yet to them we all ''look the same''. So you're not being racist as much as just being honest!

Well, filipino yes. And sometimes you can tell because of different looks that are characteristic of a region (ex. Hong Kong hair, Korean fashion style, etc..) However, it can be hard to tell based on looks alone for non-filipino Asians.

Try this website. It's harder than it looks:
