I need to have them so they fade in and out from each other on a constant loop.

Is there any ideal time between pics and is it a bad idea for a shop website?

Thanks bundles! :)

Debby.

To do that, you need either an animated GIF picture or a Flash applet. It may also be possible to put together a slide show using several static images and some JavaScript.

And yes, generally, it is a bad idea for an e-commerce Web site.

I think you meant a flash that has the fade in, fade out or dissolve effect, so that it displays a different picture after a certain time lag. It's actually a common feature on e-commerce websites, and it's certainly a good idea to attract customers' attention to the products that your site sells. This is also why most of the good web designs that you see consist of some flash on some or all of the pages. This is the interactive part of the page that livens up the page and makes your products look more appealing.

It cannot be done using pure html, you need javascript or flash to do it. I would suggest flash, it's much easier. Check out some flash guidebook.
