I have issues with waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back asleep and it's making me tired during the day when I have to go to school and work what can I do to change that. Any Ideas that don't have anything to do with sleep medicine.

In addition to the other answers, avoid caffeine and alcoholic beverages before bedtime--I would say for at least 4 hours. Also avoid eating large meals and drinking large amounts of liquids directly before going to bed. Avoid late day naps. Quiet dark room. Warm milk. If all else fails--try melatonin for a couple of day--it's a natural way to trick the body--works for most.

Good luck!

I wish I knew the answer to that one, I could sure use a good night's sleep. I too tend to wake up at the most inoppurtune times and then can't go back to sleep and am tired all day long.
Not good you know.
p.s. I refuse to take sleeping pills even though my doctor gave me some samples of Lunesta. *sigh*

Always always always get up at the exact same time everyday, no matter how alte you go to bed. I was a bad insomniac, but i tried this, and im cured. It's all about getting that body clock working.
