Yes the moon is moving away at an incredible distance of 1 ½ inches per year.

It is made up of rock, mostly a kind of basalt, like what underlies our oceans and continents. It also has a certain amount of iron and other trace metals in the rock.

The moon is moving slowly away from the earth. But VERY slowly, as it has been doing for 4 billion years or so.

It's comprised of granular pieces of glass. It is constantly moving further away from the Earth! It will leave at some point!
