Bnp is portrayed as evil but Snp appears to be popular. Why???
The only difference is the word Scottish and the word British.
They are both national parties.

Boy, I've read some drivel in my time, but some of the replies you have had are unbelievable.
To say that the SNP are not racist is ridiculous, of course they are!.
They treat anyone who is not Scottish with disdain. That is racism.
The BNP ( note: BRITISH National Party) are not excluding the Scots, they are not calling themselves the ENGLISH National Party.
At the moment, there is hardly a coat of paint between our two leading political parties on policies. Labour are bereft of any ideas of their own and so are stealing the Tories.
This is dangerous because people will start voting for extremist parties because they feel they are being ignored and taken for granted.
I can't understand all the people who think it is acceptable for the Scottish and the Welsh to have their Independence, but if the English ask for the same, it is racist.
Let Scotland have its Independence, let them finance it, (God knows what with though) let them pay for the HIV capital of Europe, the crack addicted teenage whores ( Edinburgh, if you were wondering) and we, the English, will give our pensioners free health care, nursing home fees, no tuition fees for our students etc.
It has been said before, that if the BNP find a charismatic leader, then they will cease to be a minority party, they might form the next Government.
Oh: and I am not a member of the BNP, so no abusive emails please.

BNP = Nazi - a party with it's roots firmly planted in the former Neo-Nazi party known as the National Front or NF.

The Scottish National party is exactly what it says it is. It is a party of and for the Scottish Nation and the folk who live there. It has no race agenda and is not particularly anti-English. The aim of the SNP is to go down the democratic road to an independant Scotland. Nothing wrong with that.

Problem is, that while N.Ireland, Wales and Scotland all have their own home-governments, the English do not. How is this to be addressed? The English must decide this issue for themselves.

Here in England, quite a large percentage of the pop believe quite wrongly that Scotland gets more money from the UK budget than does England. Wrong. Scotland on average gets about 52% while much of England gets 65%.

Well, I guess that since 85% of the total UK pop is English, then you could argue that the English are paying the bills.

Problem for the English is that not many of them are actually Engish by race. By that I mean there are white folk living in England who's ancestry is much more likely to be German or Dutch or even Scandinavian than Anglo-Saxon English.

The same problem, if that's the right word, does not apply to the Welsh, Irish or Scots.

Okay, so I'm biased. I'm Welsh and I'm a pensioner and you are all working to pay me my State Pension and my free travel card here in London.

Why don't you buy me a beer?

The SNP want freedom and independence for Scotland - and ALL of it's people - no matter where they came from in the world.

The BNP just wants to throw everybody out who doesn't look a certain colour. There is a BIG difference. :-)

The SNP are a progressive left of centre party with strong Green credentials. They sit with the Greens in the European Parliament, and the Scottish Greens have signed a deal with them in the Scottish parliament.

They want to set up an independant commision to encourage immigration into Scotland, and have a policy of targeting immigration to parts of Scotland where immigrants are needed using a green card system. They are in favour of fairer treatment for asylum seekers. They are pro-European, and would eventually like to see an independent Scotland and England becoming equal partners in a Federal European Union.

According to the SNP constitution - "The SNP is committed to the principle of equality of opportunity. Prohibition of discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, age, sexuality, faith, belief, ability, status or social background."

The BNP are an extreme right wing party who are very much isolationist, anti-European, anti-immigration and white supremacist (to the point where they want all non-white immigrants as well as their decendants to leave Britain). They want to repeal all anti-discrimination laws and deny the vote to anybody who does not complete national service. The BNP also have racist statements written into their constitution and have strong connections with Neo-Nazi groups in Europe and the Ku Klux Klan in the USA.

According to the BNP constitution - "the BNP is committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration and to restoring the overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948."

here are recent quotes by the leaders of these two parties, which highlight just how different they are.

In a recent speech to Muslim leaders, SNP leader Alex Salmond said - "We are very fortunate in Scotland with the diversity of our communities and the enrichment of our society with so many influences. They all contribute to one Scotland"

In a recent speech to BNP activists, BNP leader Nick Griffin said - "We bang on about Islam. Why? Because to the ordinary public out there it's the thing they can understand. It's the thing the newspaper editors sell newspapers with.....some people say we should attack the Jews, but we've got to get to power..... It would lock us in a little box; the public would think "extremist crank lunatics, nothing to do with me." And we wouldn't get power".

As political parties the SNP and BNP could not be more different.

BNP started off as a group which hated anything non British.....they would intimidate anything non British by means of violence.
sadly, nowadays the BNP is tarnished with its original reputation.
There are a lot of groups/words which are tainted by their original meaning/use.
There are a lot of racist people in the world, of all different colours and creeds, not just white British, but the mention of BNP instantly brings thoughts of racism.
The British National Party is generally as racist as the Scottish National Party but all that gets reported is the racist people of any group.

The BNP is not portrayed as evil because of their choice of name, maybe you should spend some time and compare these two parties policies and then consider if the only difference is one word.

Your opinion is a massive oversimplification and as this question proves oversimplification of things can be as misleading as outright lies

No. It is a matter of policy. SNP is a left wing party. BNP are nazis.

Boris, shouldn't you be out somewhere insulting the voters and then groveling on the radio to them?
