Because the African slaves back then skin looked more black then brown so that's where it came from I guess and probably back then they never had all these different color types like beige or w.e so the closest color was white.

That is according to my Race Card.
Get real, it wasn't the Africans or who sit around a table and started to name lebel people and decided what we should call on each other. The bad part is, we followed it and to this day.
