Will a widescreen monitor (max. res = 1440x900) work with a PC w/ Windows XP only using a 'RGB' input?? I know if a machine has a DVI output the computer can detect what a monitor's max resolution is..... but does the same apply to just using a RGB cable??

The plug-n-play information is sent over both a VGA cable and a DVI cable.

flow to the administration Panel > demonstrate > Settings and regulate the determination to an excellent demonstrate determination. Your demonstrate determination relies upon on your pictures card and the images motive force for that card. So in case you do not see a 16:9 determination on the demonstrate settings it really is because your pictures motive force isn't providing it. attempt downloading a sparkling motive force and observe if widescreen resolutions are available. If no longer, maximum in all probability your pictures card would not help widescreen resolutions as is the case with older playing cards and pcs. if so, you want a sparkling pictures card.

yes, but your video card must support wide aspect res otherwise it won't work (the vga card must also support that res output iwith the x drivers). a standard analog vgacable will work

Yes, but you might have to install drivers to support the higher resolutions.
