The other day I was watching Episode 1 and found myself actually thinking about the plot. Kwigon does all this crap to "free" Anakin, but can't free his mother because "No pod race is worth 2 slaves." Anakin wins the pod race and is free to leave with Kwigon, Obi, and his future wife, the queen. he's instanly heart broken by this, it's plain to see (Even with Jake Loyde's bad acting) either way he goes on to single handidly destroy the droid ship, thus saving the Gungans (Sadly before the droids could kill Jar-Jar) and basically saving the queen and the entire planet of Nabu. After all this is said and done, why didn't anybody.. and I mean anybody go back and buy this boys momma out of slavery? Come on Anakin is kicking with a queen, you mean to tell me she can't afford to pay off some rat with wings on Tatooine, and buy this boys momma her "freedoms?" This would basically have prevented Anakin falling to the dark side right? Then WTF?

Interesting... perhaps Master Kwigon and the rest of the Jedi Council is in some fashion aware that the Dark-Side is Anakin's fate... and that he MUST go through all this to achieve the end of the Sith Lords, and balance in the Force??

If Anakin hadn't succumbed to the dark side, he might not have fulfilled the prophecy and brought balance to the force. That is a good question though, never thought about it before.

Part of the Jedi training is to have no attachments or distractions nothing else matters but the trainning, if his mother was free she could have been a distraction to him, he had already broke one of the rules about having a relationship w/ Queen Padme.

By the time Anakin is "kicking with the queen" his mom is already gone from slavery and with her new guy.before meeting her untimely end at the hands of the tuskan raiders.

Sorry, never actually saw the movie, my friend, but I have to tell you that your ability to sum up a movie is quite admirable! Sometimes when I'm asked to give a plotline, I go off on tangents and can't seem to stick to main points.

Oh, and also just wanted to say, "Hi!" :-)

yes i agree with the last guy... don't forget in revenge of the sith Yoda tells anikin to train his mind to let go of all he fears to lose. i think that in a way means to be a Jedi you should not be consumed with relationships to family or friends.
