i mean, what does having emotion mean, anyway? our brains are what really decide what emotion to have. why do we make something mysterious out of emotions? i believe we are just products of our brains. we act on our beliefs, because think about it, usually we dont do things for no reason. the point of having a functioning brain is to make decisions and to either carry or not carry them out based on our beliefs. this idea has been going on in my head for years and has finally clicked this past month or two. another question, if we really are just products of our brains, then why do we hold humans up to such standards regarding emotion? what makes us people and not humans? are we truly good or bad people? do you understand what i am saying?

Right... Think of emotions as data packages that carries information about your state of mind. By "reading" and analysing the data, you have the opportunity to correct unsettled things in your mind.

Emotions are not to be lived by. YOU are always in charge of your life - not your emotions. This means that emotions in themselves are harmless. YOU are the one harming yourself, by allowing your emotions to be in control.

Some theorise about emotions in such a way that it makes them look like independant aliens roaming around in your brain where some are there to harm you, but that is not the case.

Relax and take control.

Whew! It sounds like you have your mind made up!! But I don't care--I KNOW that feelings are ESSENTIAL for our SURVIVAL!! So often, just living forces us into a position what we act against our own best interests! When we do, FEELIN GS are the things that alert us into the FACT that we are going against our own best interests!! We can choose to disregard them--but then we pay the price!! We may delay the reaction, but we don't escape the inevitable consequences!! You may be able to over-power everybody around you--and may never realize what you have sacrificed!! If you never experience the beauty of feelings, then sorry for you!!!

Yes emotions stem from our brain as does all of our thoughts and feelings. But that does not mean that they are not real, emotions can be measured by instruments and by the way that our bodies react to them. Emotions can be strong enough to kill us by causing strokes, heart attacks and other illnesses. So yes emotions are very real. And they have a very real affect on our lives and bodies.
