Hi -

Yes, people in our neighborhood have Open Houses during the holidays.

It's great! Sometimes we get together and decide when to have them so that we can all attend :-) I also have one just for the family. Its not really an open house, but everyone comes and goes as they please. Friends and family usually start showing up around 11:00am. Normally grandparents and older family members, during the early afternoon its the families with kids, and later on in the evening are usually just couples and we hand out by the pool, get a fire going (we have a fire pit) have a few drinks and many times people stay until very very late.

Not on my block, and I think the Sr citizens should be careful when answering this question. They need the wrong people to know they are having open house.

Yes as a matter of fact I saw an advertisement today on someones lawn. I have never been to one and would like to.
I agree with some others though that it could be dangerous. You could be setting yourself up for a robbery with strangers going through your house.

Is this for selling homes or celebrating the holidays together?

In our town we have a Victorian open house during the holidays. People open their homes with a small fee to see their historical homes.

Sadly, no. It must be fun having a whole block of neighbors visiting each other like that.

The rich people in our town do it all of the time. I am not in that league so I am never invited. A lot of the stores and businesses in our city have them also. They have good security so robbery isn't an issue.
