My friends PC was running slow and the Tech Shop said he had 39 virus! Is this possible????

THis is a common misconception. There can be 1 virus, that infected many files. but yes, this is very possible, mostly, it is like 300 though.

You'll know if you have an antivirus installed. And yes, its possible that a lot of virus will infect a single PC.

He'd better get his computer cleaned and download a good anti virus program. I'm surprised his computer hasn't crashed.

Oh yeah, I've seen computers with hundreds even THOUSANDS of viruses, by then the PC has usually crashed however.
