Well, much of the art (as is portrayed in the movie) dealt with pain. This woman lived with A LOT of pain.. not just physical.

Another aspect is love.. that even if things look like they won't work out.. you never know what will happen.

there was quite a few political and socio economic issues as well.. but I don't have enough background info to go into it..
