Would the United States be more powerful if...?

it united with Canada to make one huge country? It's just a hypothetical, I'm not asking if it is likely to happen. I was just curious if Canada has anything valuable that would make us more powerful. Or would we not really gain much out of it other than a bunch of wheat fields and maple syrup?

You would gain universal healthcare, a passport that people around the world respect, likely a democrat for president in perpetuity, the ability to secure your northern border and great fishing.

You would lose the right to own handguns just for fun and the ability to invade countries arbitrarily on a president's whim.

Canada has many natural resources and common values. I wouldn't have a problem with a union of only the US and Canada. We could get better leadership.
