A day to honor all the Veterans in the US. It was first set up after WWI to celebrate the Armistice that occurred on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. The end of WWI
It is for all Veterans not just those who served in Wartime. WE need the services in peace time as well as war time. These folks still give up years of their lives in service to us.

Because on what is now veterans' day in 1918 an armistice was signed ending the first world war in the 11th month on the eleventh day, during the 11th hour and since then that day was named veterans day to celebrate all veterans.

This is when World War I ended; November 11 (1918), at 11:00.
Less known is that Americans weren't sure when it ended at the time. Four days before United Press had reported that the war was over, so there were huge celebrations on that day.
