I was listening to the radio this morning and somehow it picked up a walkie talkie signal. And then I wondered, with all the radio waves, microwaves, and all the other types of waves, do they have any effect on the human body?

And today I found that the county I live in has the highest cancer rate of any other area in the U.S. My county is named ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, which is coincidently less than 20 miles from WASHINGTON D.C. Is that just a coincidence?

A friend of mine asked this question a few years ago during an Amateur Radio Licensing Class. The instructors reply was that radio waves don't cause cancer. I know probably a dozen guys that have been doing HAM radio every day for 40-50 years... as far as I am aware none have ever had cancer. I have been using my radio fairly often for 4 years, I am still alive.

I personally don't think there is an issue with those signals. NV has pockets with high cancer rates, especially in children, but not near anything like that nor anything found in the water or ground, etc.
