If you have knuckle couplers you can get or make a magnetic uncoupler. If you have hook and horn couplers you can use a crochet hook. Hope this helps. Model railroading lasts a life time.

As someone else mentioned, for knuckle couplers (like Kadee), you buy or build magnetic uncouplers that mount under the track. http://www.kadee.com/int/c1.htm

I work in N, and have a mix of magnetic uncouplers and simple TOOTHPICKS to trip the couplers.

GLAD TO SEE OTHERS STILL LIKE THEM TO , JUST YESTERDAY I PICKED UP 3 SETS ( SAME ) AT A REAL GOOD PRICE OUT OF A SALVAGE STORE . I WILL SELL 2 TO RECOUP MY EXPENSES .
