Almost! Until I checked another mechanic, and saved myself a hundred quid!

I was ripped off by a body shop who had given me an estimate for parts and repair. I ended up having to take my estimate to my personal mechanic, determine what actual repairs were made and then come up with a figure for what I should have to pay. Granted, I still paid more than I wanted to, but I believe it was a fair price for what parts and work were completed. Best thing to do is find out the hourly labor wage, of that mechanic, and call Advanced Auto, NAPA, or Auto Zone and price the parts yourself. (Keep in mind he may buy used from a junkyard or get a discount from a store) I also requested a mechanic give me back my old parts to prove they were replaced. And there was another time I made an exhaust company cut off the part they welded on and put my old one back just for charging me too much. (I had called and priced it while work was being done, and they marked up the part, almost $80.00!!) Finding a good, honest mechanic is hard...ask around and see who your co workers, friends and family go to; ask them to refer you if they are happy. A good mechanic won't want to hurt his reputation (or lose business) if another customer is asking him to help their friend.

No. I usually try to ask the men in my family the best place to go to for car work!

a guy put a vavle adjustment on my car but it still misses so it's going back to him on Friday with a few choice words
