Serious question. I do and will always continue to do so. As Christmas time approaches, spare a thoght for those who can't afford anything, let alone, a Christmas dinner. Some suggestions.
1) Buy a small toy for the Salvation Army, they distribute to poor children at Christmas.
2) Send a Christmas Card to some "Retirement Homes" , even if you don't know anyone there.
3) Take a toy to Church, to be given to any poor families with children.
All ideas welcome?

You've got too. If you have to give a little to those that do not have. You don't have to do it for Religius perposes, you can can evan do it for selfish reasons if you want to. We have to help out our Brothers and Sisters. Don't just do it for holiday times do it year round. Food depots need food year round. Most people that get a little help really appreciate it, once they get on thier feet they will help some one else out, at least that is what happened to me.

Wal-mart right now sells a whole thanksgiving dinner ready to cook for 37.97. Imagine giving that to someone in need.

Some gas and electric companies have a "good neihbor" fund that you can give a little extra for some one that is having a hard time paying thier bills.

Helping people is easy and makes you feel good!

Always do, when needed, not just at the holidays.

During the holidays the stores put a lot of canned goods on sale. That's a great time to buy a few extra for the barrels set out. That food is distributed to those who need. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.

The Salvation Army requests as little as $1.88 to provide a Thanksgiving meal for a person. The change we carry can provide a few meals.

Charitable organizations and churches have opportunities to pick a child's name from a tree and buy a gift.

There is joy in giving, no matter how little.

I always have. I don't approve of the war, but I have been sending "care packages" to Afganistan. The person doesn't answer my e-mails anymore, so I'm assuming she's home. I need a new group overseas to "adopt" if you or anyone else knows where to send things. (especially someone without families).

I have always done all I could for people & pets who need help.

The post office were I used to work always made up dinners for Thanksgiving for families in the neighborhood & had an "angel tree" for families at Christmas.

The firemen collect toys. So do other organizations such as the American Legion, The Moose & many others.

There are food banks & churches which serve dinners for the poor.

There are many ways you can help if that's what you want.

I do do things lie this and support a little one in South Africa, and send him things all through the year. Also at my church we do shoe boxes for kids in need, and Santa's last call here in town for those on welfare. A large of group of us called the Jolly Good Fellows used to go caroling in town to all the nursing homes on school buses until the group got too. big and so they stopped doing it.I like to serve food at the Shelter on Christmas day as I have Christmas eve with my family and so I have the time. When my kids were in grade school we served food for the poor, it was a great experience for them. I also got some emails this year to send cards to our soldiers and still have more I am going to send.

I remember them all through the year. I send cards to shut ins, I visit those at the nursing/retirement home-that is the thing they love most-I also buy presents at Christmas for some of the folks there. I am a prison volunteer and attend church services there and serve at parties for them.

You can also 'adopt' a local family and give them a gift card or basket of food. Or you can donate to someone's favorite charity in their name as a gift to them.

Over the years I've made toys for children. I've made Christmas Bags for family's and put them at the door and leave. The only person who knew what I was doing was the one who help drop the bags off. I would ring the door bell and run.

Local lighthouse mission provides a meal w/ fixins for Thanksgiving and Christmas at $1.25 each, few bucks goes a long ways. Various churches in the area accept food donations year round -- give what I can.

People in nursing homes can feel left out at Christmas shopping time. Go to the one Dollar Store and by some Gifts for them to give to their family. Help them wrap it up. They will love you for it. Also bring some Christmas Cards to them to sigh or mark and mail them to their loved ones! There is nothing better than giving and they still need to feel it. Though I bought the gifts I told my Mother-in -law it was from her money.

Toys for Tots is always a good place to start. Just talking to some one involved and I guess batteries for toys is a big part of their budget. Donating those would be good. Meals on wheels. Food Banks always need help.

I live in a small city and there is an angel tree up every year. I make it a point to choose a name and buy gifts for that person. I also donate to our local food bank and the domestic abuse shelter. I prefer to donate locally rather than to large organizations.
