Is there anyone in the NHL who means more to their team than Kovy does for the Thrashers??? They started 0-6 before Kovy put them on his back and now has them just below .500 and close to a playoff spot!!! (If it was the end of the season)

You know what is sad? He will not be voted as a starter for the All Star Game since he plays in Atlanta.

The point I am trying to make is he is the most crucial player for his team AS OF RIGHT NOW in the season.

Atlanta's MVP is Don Waddell, he got the team turned around, not Kovalchuk

If you look at numbers like that the Wild have a better winning percentage by about 40% with Gaborik in the lineup...he never gets any credit either, so I completely understand what you are talking about with Kovalchuk, he is amazing and doesnt get the credit he deserves because of the team he plays on...which is too bad.

Is it November or is my calendar wrong.

But seriously it takes more then one person to make a team .500. Also the All Star voting doesnt even start for another few weeks. So he might be the mvp he might not.

Just because Atlanta has almost no other high quality players doesn't mean he's MVP worthy. He's a great player and he has helped Atlanta not be a joke franchise like Florida, but he needs to do more before being MVP worthy. Sid the Kid and Joe Thornton are great examples.

"now has them just below .500 and close to a playoff spot!!!"

Funniest thing I've heard all day. We're not even 20 games in people.

Yeah, there is another player in the NHL who means more to their team: Zetterberg. Here's another one: Crosby. Oh, wait, another name: Ovechkin. D'oh, another one: Lundqvist. Thanks for coming out.

And the point everyone else is trying to make is NO. There are other great players in the league who are not Kovalchuk.

same thing in Basketball Kobe carrys the lakers, but doesnt win the MVP and I agree with your point Most VALUABLE Player, means you mean the most to your team but usually it goes to the best player on the best or second best team

many goalies are crucial to the success of teams. for example, if the rangers lost lundqvist, they'd be in big trouble.
