I was in the bathroom the other day and I noticed that there was some brownish discharge in my underwear, it had no odor to it, just brown. And it kind of freaked me out, I have no idea what it is... And then for the past like month or so, I randomly vomit, not like everyday, but I feel dizzy and then everytime I vomit, it seems to be the food that i've eaten that day. It really does scare me. Oh, and I'm on birth control, I don't know if that might have anything to do with it or not?

Are you new to the pill?

If you are, all of the above symptoms are totally normal. This "brown" odorless discharge is a little bit of blood, called spotting, it is brown because it is old blood. It is common to have this in the first three months of BC use. Vomitting and associated dizziness are all perfectly normal in the first few months as well and should subside within the next few cycles. If you are still having problems after the first three months, you might want to ask your doctor to switch your pills. Breakthrough bleeding (the brown discharge) may indicate that you need a higher dose, if it continues after the first three months. As for the vomitting, switching to a different hormone might help. Just remember both of these symptoms mean that your pill isn't as effective as it should be and you should use back-up protection to prevent pregnancy. Good luck!

With being on the pill if you have been on the pill for a while you may need to change the time of day you take your pill (if you are taking it in the morning some women find that they have problems with nausea and vomitting and then switch to taking in the evening and do fine) to see if that helps.

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
