Yes, the PS2 is backwards compatible, meaning it plays PS1 games. It does not, however, play PSP games.

well in a way yeah cause the ps2 can play ps1 games but there might be just a few ps1 games the ps2 cant play but i never had that problem

Pretty much. The PS2 plays all PS1 games, so a PS2 is really all you need as far as that goes.

Yeah pretty much, plastation 2 will play ps1 games but im my experence ps1's are more relyable..
