...what are you afraid of? This phrase turns up a lot on YA. What does it actually mean? Does it infer that the person using it is a mindless drone who will gladly believe all they are told by those above them? Or is simply a statement of fact? Are there some things that are best left hidden and away from the prying eyes of Government? Such as?

It is the great Straw man, if you question the authority, then you must be guilty of some crime, in order not to be guilty you must not question.
But if you have live with honor all your life not because you fear, the consequences but as a conscious decision, then it is an insult that you are presumed guilty, and thus must be monitored. What ever happened to innocent until proved guilty, it seems now to be presumed guilty until proved innocent.

Everyone is entitled to privacy. And everyone has something they would rather the world didnt know about (skeletons in the cupboard) I am very cynical when someone says they are a completely open book. No-one is that uninteresting! And keeping things from this government seems to be easy. Lots of people are doing it, according to the media

I have nothing to hide.
I just wish to stay private and do not wish anybody knowing anything about me.
I will NOT have an ID card.
I ONLY do jobs which pay cash.
I ONLY give people a mailing address.
I will NOT have a bank account.

As they say, knowledge is power, so keep the knowledge about you to a minimum.

I simply cannot think of one thing I have done or said that would make the government interested in me.

And I can't think of one thing I have said or done that would make any police or law enforcement people be interested.

So , I have nothing to hide, nothing to be embarrassed about, I guess that makes me different ?
