paparazzi, rumors, and no privacy

The money is great but imagine being chased day in and day out by the paparazzi. Can you imagine going to the bathroom and a camera pokes you in the butt from the toilet bowl? There's a price to pay for being famous. You have absolutely no privacy!

The Ups?

Admiration, money, luxurious living, being able to do what you love for a living, traveling, meeting lots of interesting people, going to parties, driving nice cars, wearing nice clothes. Access to the best of everything and having unique experiences that the average person can only dream about. Sometimes making a difference in an everyday person's life through philanthropy or perhaps being an influence...an example of this? Because of your influence along with the privilege of having a platform to speak from due to your fame, someone else who admires your talent decides to read a book, takes up an instrument, art, craft or sport, stays in school, devotes themself to a cause or gets help for a serious problem they or a loved one may be having.

The Downs?

Long hours. Fierce competition, jealousy and backstabbing from other artists. Having next to NO privacy whatsoever due to paparazzi. Dealing with slander and libel. Stalker fans. Sometimes getting screwed over by managers or record executives. Having to choose between being "true" to your art or "selling out" to be profitable. Losing your way and ending up addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, food. Messy divorces. Getting slapped with paternity suits if you're a male celebrity. Pressure to stay forever young, beautiful and unreasonably thin if you're a female celebrity. Not knowing who your true friends are at times. ..and even family members trying to exploit you for their own gain. Having no identity other than your public persona. The pressure to always be #1...and having to constantly look for that next role or getting that next hit song.

Knowing that because of the fickleness of the entertainment buying public...you can lose fame as quickly as you gained it.

The good is that you make lots of $$$, and you can get great stuff for free if you win an Emmy award, etc.

The bad is that paparazzi is on you 24 hours a day.. Look at Brittney Spears.. They know everything she does! And that everyone knows your business, then your friends and family start to judge you, etc.
