Assuming this is serious question...
A lot of very ignorant people see gay men and lesbians as a threat because they believe that we will “turn” their vulnerable children into gay men and lesbians.
There is an old joke among gay men and lesbians that goes along the lines of “yes we’re on a recruitment drive, one more and I get a toaster oven” – the idea being that you earn a prize if you meet your “quota”. It’s a joke that is meant to show people who think we’re interested in “turning them gay” how ridiculous that idea is.

Genetic predisposition at the moment the XX chromosomes pair up during gestation in their mother's womb. Evolution, (which all religious types are incapable of accepting the evidence of reality in nature) usually has a little bit to do with it, but the trigger I imagine isn't fully understood or why reactionary parents are usually in total denial over the predisposition of this trait at birth.

You've got it backwards.
The person coming out doesn't get the toaster oven.
The person "converting" the noob gets the toaster oven.
It's sort of like a reward for a job well done.
