I think the worst is when people use mostly red brick chips or that shiny white rock. SOOo depressing! Any others?

Wow! You guys really have seen some terrible gardens LOL. I agree about the cutesy statue gardens. We used to laugh about one in our neighborhood, then one night someone stole all her statues and she was heart-broken! She said all the Mom's would bring their children by and the kids would name all the animals. Interesting to hear her side!

lol theres a lady that lives near the city where i live and the garden hasn't been seen for about 20 years coz she collects garbage and it is piled up to the roof of her house, the whole way round it, she climbs over the top of the mound and slips in a window to get in the house. pleh yuck!!! So im not sure if this qualifies coz im not sure there is a garden under there.....lol

I think the ugliest I have seen is the one with the red brick chips and all the plants were faded plastic. There was also a plethora of garden gnomes and ugly plastic animals. I have to admit I did not see any weeds in it. I know what you mean about the white rock, there is a house in our subdivision that has it everywhere and it is ugly.
Sorry if this sounded mean. I should just say it was not to my liking. Also, this garden does not belong to elderly people. They probably say horrible things about my garden with all the living plants and lack of lawn decorations. Maybe for x-mas I will buy them some new plastic animals to replace the ones that are lacking ears, heads and so on.

I was telling of the worst garden and then I realized that I wasn't being very nice so I thought I would just say " TO EACH IS OWN" I wouldn't want someone negatively critiquing my garden.

i have seen lots of gardens fullof weeds and not cared for, and lots of them littered with all kinds of trash, and lots of gardens I did not particularly care for. But when I see gardens full of gnomes and windmills and flamingos and flowers in old tires, I have to remind myself that maybe it isn't MY taste, but whoever fixed it that way probably gets pleasure from it, and in that case, my opinion doesn't count. If it's not in my yard, it really isn't any of my business and I don't get to decide whether it is good or not.

The absolute worst was one that was too well lit. Looked like landing lights to a neon sign that could have said "Look at ME"

An old lady near us "planted" far too many plastic flowers everywhere and left them long after they had faded.

Well I like that better than dead plants/flowers/shrubs. It is boring but it is also the easiest.
