Which type of interface do current laptops use to achieve similar expansion capabilities as desktops?

"B" is quite new and the fastest. It is still confined to higher priced laptops.

"A" has been around for almost 10 years. It is more common especially down to the budget models. But USB is gaining more popularity because of the numerous devices available.
