because people think that obesity is a personality flaw not a medical condition. Especially if someone has never struggled with their weight or eating, they have no idea.

Overweight people are always taking the brunt of society's wrath. Tho today, they are slowly becoming the majority. I guess if you are fat, any emotional issues you MIGHT have, show on your body. If you drink, smoke, do drugs, have a sexual addiction etc, it's not so easily spotted on a person. But it's all basically the same. So why make overweight people feel so bad? It's just cruelty. Many people can only feel good, when they put someone else down. How sad and unfortunate.

Can we start with a defination for fat. There is full figure, curvy, chunky, heavy set then cross over to what some will consider fat. Not all fat is because a person has an eating disorder. Some persons try to starve themselves to loose weight and that is the biggest mistake because the body will go into starvation mode and that person can actually gain weight because the body is in a survival phase. Not understanding the need to eat to loose weight can cause big weight gain.

Society has a prejudice against fat or obese people because society believes it has a right to judge what is right - even for others. Those of us who are fat or obese have the right to make our own choice. Assuming there is not a medical reason for our size, then the reason we are fat or obese is that we have eaten more calories than we burned. Does that behavior mean we are weak or have no will power? No, not in my opinion. It simply means we like to eat and enjoy the pleasures of eating and food. We know our eating behavior makes us fat or obese. I know I did. And I gained a lot of weight over the last 9 years to be my current 620 pounds. I loved to eat and eat and I loved being very fat. I was happiest this way. I do indulge myself when I eat but it is not because of lack of self control. It is a choice I made and make. That choice is not understood by others who are not fat or obese.

In general people view being overweight as an inability to excersize self control. Any existence of lacking self control is viewed in a negative light, such as being a drug addict. Those who have never had such an issue, clearly do not understand that being overweight is not always an issue of self control. Sometimes there are underlying medical causes.

Because they themselves have a low self-esteem and they think that by insulting someone else, it well make themselves feel better.

Look inside to who that person really is, not what they weigh!

There are some very mean, insulting, fearful people out there who enjoy hurting others.

They are the ones who are sick not somebody who is overweight.

i have nothing against them but what i think is that you can be big boned or have a reason for being slightly larger is because no person can be huge just because of generics or being big boned. if you work at it you wont look like you are huge.
people are rude and annoying and no one should have to put up with that unfortunetly because the world wont change for fat people we must make sure that we aren't among those rude people.

I think that sometimes it can be due to the person knowing that it could happen to them and they resent that. A lot of people also associate negative things with it such as laziness.

Because it's unhealthy and in society, we prefer those who are healthy not only biologically, but socially as well. We don't want people around that remind us of our own mortality or physical weaknesses and obesity? It is a physical weakness.

Besides, most medical conditions that cause weight gain are not an excuse to be excessively overweight, because there are effective treatments it may be an excuse to be bordering overweight or even slightly overweight, but someone who is obese has some sort of personal/psychological flaw that causes this problem. Meaning that very fat people are mentally flawed as well, in the very least, mentally flawed in that they are not intelligent enough to find a doctor who will properly diagnose and treat their condition.

And, quite frankly, it's just damn ugly.

Because they are disgusting fat bodies. People should be grateful to be alive and respect themselves. How can a person live like that? Overeating is endulgence eating. Is eating really more enjoyable than being able to be active and having sports in your life? I know that some people have medical conditions and that's different. But for the vast majority of fat people it's psychological.
