There is no real feminist or gendered discussion here just a load of women haters (male and female) and a load of women who say "I'm not a feminist but....." If you have no interest in gender or you hate women and wanna write hateful things about them keep it to your personal diary and get some good therapy, it would be nice to have a real discussion about gender inequality on here without being trashed by trolls! I'm sure many people on here agree with me too.

Yes it is a joke, and it has very little to do with Gender Studies.
I miss so many intelligent posters, as little by little people leave.
As long time ago I said this is becoming:
a) The troll category
b) the private human parts category
c) The insults category
Few know what Gender Studies means!! It is not a sex therapy group, it is not about bashing men or women...but alas that is what happens all the time. Yes it is a joke. The trolls and haters have polluted this place. It seems Yahoo likes it, as serious and relevant contributors get banned. What a joke indeed
Thanks for your question.

Well I don't necessarily agree with the CDC anymore than I believe other organizations when it comes to "statistics" and actual proof. The only difference with the CDC and the other groups is that they can get the military and law to back them up when it comes to disease and serious outbreaks. So with that knowledge, I understand they are powerful and probably have the most accurate stats. I do think date rape is on the rise and many of the cases probably don't get reported at all. If anything, the CDC's stats are probably lower than what's really going on.

That's why I don't spend a lot of time on it. I answer a question here and there. I read the beginning blurb before I decide if I want to read the so-called "details" or not; if they sound inane or whiney or just hateful, I don't read them.
Some food for thought: I'm quoting a friend here with a masters in psychology: "You have responsibility to yourself to protect your mental and emotional health! Just as you would not walk in front of a moving truck so that you protect your body; you should avoid crazy or hateful people just the same. Those types of people are poison to your well being just as much as that truck."

I feel this way about a lot of the more personal categories. It's really kind of scary to think how many creepy nerds there are out there who spend precious thinking and doing time being obnoxious on the internet. There are some intelligent and thoughtful people in this world who are interested in what other intelligent and thoughtful people have to say. No wonder there is a category called Gender and Womens' Studies -- being a thinking woman is a big issue. Come on, trolls, get out of the basement, meet some real humans, and make up for that lost brain time!

It's not all bad things going on here. There are plenty of legitimate questions and answers. You just have to weed through everything and only bother with the good stuff.

Yeah, many questions here are an attempt to provoke or personal attacks towards people and their opinions, which I dislike and don't bother to answer them either.
Some are funny, don't mind them, but any question which I feel uncomfortable with, I disregard. However, there are others, both interesting and/or funny, one can just sort them out to one's preference, is all... agree with Juniper.

I can appreciate your feelings. There are many days that I am totally amazed that Yahoo hasn't pulled the plug on this one. If you want to discuss feminism there are actually some intelligent sites. This is really more for women haters and children.

I'm interested to know if you're open to discussion or if you believe that only one point of veiw should be allowed in Gender and Woman's Studies. Because, last time I checked, I had a "gender" too.

Oh, and the feminists that post here offer any intelligent alternative? The reason this place is beset with trolls is because it deserves to be. Otherwise it's a monument to empty complaints.

There is a lot of intelligent discussion on G&WS but you need to filter out the heckling. It would be useful to recognise that a lot of men are legitimately very disillusioned with the negative impact that feminism/misandry has had on their daily lives.
Having said that, I think any feminist has a duty to address the legitimate questions posted here by men - men have been listening patiently to the complaints of feminists for DECADES. ByTheWay posted a question on women & technology today that got only one reply, and none from women. If you are not prepared to discuss legitimately raised issues, this only increases the frustration felt by men. I don't endorse the hecklers, but I don't endorse those who refuse to enter a reasonable discussion either.
Patience, understanding and empathy and are pretty useful in a place like G&WS.
