Have someone call them and tell them that you lost your voice, but you still want to talk to them. That way they don't hang up on you when you call.

Depends on the message. If it is important I'd rather speak to them in person so I'd been choking down cough drops and water for 30 minutes then make the call.

I would call to let them know I can't talk much yet and get a good laugh about my sexy voice.

I would personally email the person to let them know that my voice is scarce because that person might be wondering what is going on and creating ideas.

I would call and let the person know I couldn't really talk at the moment.

I would call, but keep it short and tell the person it hurts to talk. They will understand and you can call back when you feel better.

If I was SUPPOSED to call, I'd call and briefly and as best as I could, explain that I couldn't talk. Use email. Is there someone else near that could explain it for you?
